This Fall, there is a new television show based on the book, which is based on the website, “Sh## My Dad Says”. I’ve heard the show is horrible but it reminds me sometimes of the stuff my mother says. I don’t think it is sh## but sometimes, I have no clue where she comes up with this stuff.
For example, this weekend while in the car with my mother, she was telling me that my nieces were going to one of those Jump for Joy places…you know the ones. You can even rent one. Actually, I’ve been contemplating buying one and just setting it up as my bed…on my parents’ front yard. But, I digress. So instead of saying a Jump for Joy or any of those other names, my mother calls it, “One of those places where you jump your face off.”
And really, when I was little and at the school fiesta, I think I would have preferred Jump Your Face Off to Jump for Joy. Kind of sounds dangerous. And in some ways, it was. I mean, everyone has a story of being in one of those things and not being sure you are going to get out alive. The everyday version of American Gladiator come to your local school fair.
I think the name should be changed to Jump Your Face Off. So from now on it isn’t joy you are jumping for, but for the possibility that your face will come off. Or a kind of dare…oh you don’t think I can jump my face off?!! Watch me!
Sincerely,

That is truely a classic Pat Roberts line! I so love hearing stories about your mom’s awesome comments/words I’ve never heard before! Thanks for the giggles!
